Napier Port is the gateway for goods flowing in and out of Central New Zealand and is at the heart of the Hawke’s Bay economy. We are driven to find better answers for our importers and exporters by leveraging technology, innovation, and the capability of our people.
We’re passionate about the safety of our people and are committed to all people going home safely every day.
Napier Port is predominately an export based operation. Around 80% of exports through the Container Terminal are driven by the fresh produce season, grown in and around Hawkes Bay, resulting in the ‘peak’ season for the Port and its busiest period.
Due to seasonal demands, we are seeking fixed term forklift operators to work 40 hours over a 7 day period in our Port Pack operation, packing cargo including timber and pulp. Forklift operators will be operating up to 10 hours per shift. This fixed term position is anticipated to commence in January 2018 and end in May 2018.
The successful operators will be skilled and experienced in operating 4.5 and 8 tonne forklifts, therefore a minimum Class 2 licence with an F endorsement is required. The operators will have excellent work ethic, good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and processes within a timely and safe manner. A class 5 truck licence would be an advantage, but is not a requirement.
Key priorities for the role include:
- Packing and de-vanning containers
- Loading/unloading trucks
- Provide service delivery to customer and product care standards
- Safety – Zero Harm workplace through a Just Safety Culture
